How to Record Feedings in ApiManager
Feeding records are essential for tracking colony support, stimulation, and winter preparation. ApiManager lets you record what was fed, to which hives, how much, and in what form — keeping your nutrition history clear and searchable.
What this tutorial covers
- Open the Feedings section and start a new feeding
- Select apiary and hives (single, multiple, or all)
- Choose feeding type and food type
- Enter quantity as total or per hive
- Add notes and save feeding
- Review feeding history
Open the Feedings screen
- Open Feedings from the ApiManager menu.
- Tap/click Create.
Step 1: Select scope (Apiary & Hives)
Define where the feeding applies.
- Apiary — choose the apiary.
- All Hives — check to apply feeding to every hive in the apiary.
- Hives — select one or more specific hives.
The hive counter shows how many hives will receive this feeding.
Step 2: Enter general feeding details
- Name — descriptive name (example: “Spring Syrup Feeding”).
- Date — when feeding was done.
Feeding Type
- Additive — supplemental feeding.
- Stimulative — stimulation for brood buildup.
Food
- Select food type (syrup, sugar, candy, pollen patty, etc.).
- Select Ratio (for syrup).
Notes (optional)
Add observations such as feeder type, consumption behavior, or weather context.
Step 3: Enter feeding amount
You can enter quantity in two ways:
- Total — total amount for all selected hives.
- Per Hive — amount given to each hive.
ApiManager automatically calculates the other value.
- Quantity — numeric value.
- Unit — kg, lb, liters, etc.
Save the feeding
- Review your entries.
- Tap/click Save.
- The feeding is now stored in your records.
Best practices
- Use consistent naming for easier filtering.
- Record feedings immediately after application.
- Use notes to track feeder type and hive response.
- Review feeding history before inspections.
Accurate feeding records help you understand colony development, consumption trends,
and the effectiveness of your feeding strategy.
